The true meaning of Memorial Day…

Thanks to every one of you who has ever served our country. Your doing so allowed me to do a walk-through with a client this morning and then head home to be with my family and celebrate Memorial Day. God Bless you and God Bless America!

Memorial Day Weekend Is Here, Community Pools Are Opening And Lake Of The Ozarks Trips Are Being Planned

Checking The Pulse Of The Kansas City Real Estate Market

Memorial Day weekend is finally here, thus kicking off the summer season in Kansas City. For the past month, every time we pass by the pool in our subdivision, the kids bring up how excited they are to jump in. I’m amazed that kids easily forget just how cold the pool is each Memorial Day… or maybe they just don’t care. Anyhow, the time is here as nearly every subdivision pool located and managed by an HOA in the Kansas City area is set to open this weekend. I’m thinking there’s not going to be a single parent in the pool with the cold water and outside temperatures hovering in the 70’s. The Memorial Day weekend also starts the summer season of planning weekend trips to the Lake of the Ozarks.

If you’re new to Kansas City area, many people have a second home at the Lake and others plan a trip or two down to the Lake each summer and stay at an area resort. The three-hour drive is well worth the time to get away for a weekend and if you have a boat it’s even better! If you don’t you can rent a pontoon, though that’s probably not recommended on a holiday weekend. I’ve seen fourth of July weekends where the water literally looked like rough ocean water.  If you’re brave enough to travel by water and hang out with the crazies, check out Party Cove… and, if you’re like me and have kids and are afraid of what the kids might see at party cove, Osage Beach is a better option for taking a break from the water activities — you’ll find shopping, dining and fun things to do.

Uncle Sam… Always There To Lend A Helping Hand

Checking The Pulse Of The Kansas City Real Estate Market

Tax his land, tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow, tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, tax his shirts,
Tax his work, tax his dirt.
Tax his chew, tax his smoke,
Teach him taxes are no joke.
Tax his car, tax his ass
Tax the roads he must pass.
Tax his tobacco, tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his booze, tax his beers,
If he cries, tax his tears.
Tax his bills, tax his gas,
Tax his notes, tax his cash.
Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.
If he hollers, tax him more,
Tax him until he’s good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
“Taxes drove me to my doom!”
And when he’s gone, we won’t relax,
We’ll still be after the inheritance TAX!

Overland Park Keller Williams Third Annual Kolors 4 Kids Day Is Thursday 5/12

Checking The Pulse Of The Kansas City Real Estate Market

Keller Williams Realty RED Day occurs the second Thursday of every May. On this day, each Keller Williams office around the country participate in activities designed to improve their local community. My local Overland Park Keller Williams office focuses on the Kolors 4 Kids program, where we work to get as many crayon donations as possible to deliver to the kids at Children’s Mercy hospital. It’s a great program that culminates with our office making a walk on Thursday 5/12 from our office to the Overland Park Children’s Mercy just down the road from our office.

Everyone is encouraged to donate crayons by bringing them to the front desk at our 11005 Metcalf Avenue office in Overland Park. Whether you are a current client, past clients, friend or real estate agents from other office, the kids at Children’s Mercy Hospital will greatly appreciate your donations. The stack of crayons is already building in our front lobby and you can bring any crayon donations weekdays between 9 AM and 5 PM. If you have crayons to donate but aren’t able to deliver them, don’t hesitate to let us know because we can pick them up and deliver them to the office.
